Infrastructure and service management considerations in a SOA environment
Global enterprises need to be continuously agile, quickly responding to new business opportunities and global challenges. Enterprises are required to leverage existing investments in applications and infrastructures, while also supporting new opportunities to interact with customers, partners, and suppliers. Service-oriented architectures (SOAs), with their promise of broad interoperability and reuse of services, enable enterprises to create high-level services that encapsulate business processes and functions, as well as adding services or upgrades to existing services quickly and efficiently to address new business requirements. Best practices have shown that a focus on the architectural part of SOA implementation is mandatory. However, another necessary component is the infrastructure required to allow services to communicate with each other in a managed and service-level aware manner, across a heterogeneous data center.
