French shipping freight volume is set to drop slightly over the next five years, according to a recent report. The volume is projected to fall from 6.65 billion tonne kilometers in 2021 to 6.54 billion tonne kilometers by 2026, at a rate of 0.6% each year on average. Since 1975, France has seen a gradual decrease in freight volume at a rate of 0.6% each year. The country was ranked 8th in 2021, behind Belgium, which had the highest freight volume of 6.65 billion tonne kilometers. The United States, Russia, and Germany were ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the ranking respectively.
