Global energy consumption is projected to reach 631.5 exajoules by 2026, a 0.9% increase year-on-year from 2021's 595.15 exajoules. Since 1970, demand for energy has grown 1.4% year-on-year. In 2021, China led the way in energy consumption, with 157.65 exajoules. The US, India and Russia followed. Turkmenistan saw an increase of 6.2% year-on-year, while Venezuela experienced a 7.7% decline since 1970. Global energy supply is set to reach 14,890 million tonnes of oil equivalent by 2026, a 0.7% average year-on-year rise from 2021's 14,080 million tonnes of oil equivalent. Since 1976, global supply rose by 0.6% year-on-year. In 2021, China headed the energy supply table, with 3,530 million tonnes of oil equivalent. The US, India and Russia were the next three. North Korea enjoyed a 10.5% year-on-year increase, while Venezuela was down 12.8% since 1976.
