Global demand for alcoholic beverages is expected to reach 21.5 million metric tons by 2026, growing at a rate of 0.1% a year. Since 2017, global demand for alcoholic drinks has decreased by 0.4% year on year. In 2021, China came in at the top, with 7.9 million metric tons consumed. India, Japan and Russia made up the top four. Canada saw a dramatic 41.8% increase in consumption since 2017, while Bulgaria had a significant drop of 38.1%.
