Global meat production is set to reach roughly 370 million metric tons by 2026, growing at an annual rate of 0.9%. Since 1966, global supply has increased by 1.2% per year. China leads the world in meat production with 81 million metric tons in 2021, followed by the United States Virgin Islands, Brazil and Russia. Tajikistan saw the largest increase of 27.4% compared to the previous year, while Antigua and Barbuda saw the largest decrease of 22.6% since 1966. Global meat consumption is expected to reach 330 million metric tons by 2026, growing at an average annual rate of 0.4%. Since 2017, global demand has increased by 0.3% each year. China leads the world in consumption with 92 million metric tons in 2021, followed by the United States, Brazil and Russia. Iraq saw the greatest growth of 5.2% compared to the previous year, while Venezuela saw the greatest decrease of 10.8% since 2017. European meat sales are predicted to reach nearly €285 million by 2026, growing 0.9% year on year. Since 2016, the European market has risen by 2.7% annually. Germany leads the continent in processed meat sales with €53 million in 2021, followed by France, Spain and Italy. Spain saw the highest growth of 6.3% compared to the previous year, while Ireland experienced the largest decrease of 2.6% since 2016.
