Import of yarn of synthetic staple fibres, containing less than 85% by weight of such fibres to Iceland decreases in 2017

According to adjusted statistics issued by United Nations Statistical Office, synthetic fiber import strongly dropped by 31.02% compared with the year before. Synthetic fiber import fell sharply by 999.23 kilogram, in contrast to the prior year when it rose by 17.94 percent. Iceland saw a decrease of 66.5% in synthetic fiber import during the last 30 years. Moreover, it has had a negative average annual growth rate of 0.07 percent over the 5 years with a negligible overall increase since the 1988. It averaged 3 188.03 kilogram from 1988 to 2017 and it hit its all-time high of 14 351 kilogram in 2011 and record low of 1 259 kilogram in 1995.
