Import of maize seed to Japan: Rise in 2017

According to updated figures issued by United Nations Statistical Office, maize seed import strongly increased by 36.65 percent compared to the prior year. The variable greatly climbed by 749 565 kilogram, in comparison with the previous year when it declined by 13.41 percent. Japan saw a raise of 40.31% in maize seed import during the last 30 years. Besides, it has had a 0.08 percent compound average annual growth rate during the 5 years with a negligible overall decrease since the start of time series. It averaged 2 083 321.67 kilogram from 1988 to 2017 and it reached its all-time high of 3 534 000 kilogram in 1990 and record low of 1 362 000 kilogram in 2000.
