Import of fresh or chilled tomatoes to Sri Lanka: Fall in 2017

In 2017 tomatoes import sharply decreased by 82.38 percent, updated numbers from United Nations Statistical Office reveal. The indicator fell greatly from 37 994 kilogram in 2016 to 6 696.4 kilogram prior year, contrarily to the previous year when it grew by 1 341.9 percent. The overall changes for the prior 28 years reached a fall of 60.76%. Besides, it has shown a growth at a 4.78 percent average annual growth rate over the five years with a slight overall rise since the 1990. It averaged 3 508.94 kilogram from 1990 to 2017 and it hit its all-time high of 37 994 kilogram in 2016 and record low of 6 kilogram in 2014.
