According to data announced by European Commission, flax yarn export sharply grew by 32.77 percent in 2017. Flax yarn export climbed strongly by 32 900 kilogram, compared to the previous year when it went down by 35.68 percent. Portugal saw an increase of 133 200% in flax yarn export over the past 15 years. However, it has attained a negative average annual growth rate of 0.12% over the last 5 years with a negligible overall growth since the 2003. It averaged 68 220 kilogram from 2003 to 2017 and it hit its all-time high of 256 500 kilogram in 2013 and record low of 100 kilogram in 2003.
