Export of saffron from Sri Lanka: Increase in 2017

United Nations Statistical Office announced that compared with the previous year the indicator strongly went up by 158.53%. Export of saffron greatly increased by 6 680.44 kilogram, as it follows the tendency of the prior year when it rose by 4.98 percent. Sri Lanka saw a increase of 40 249.78% in export of saffron during the last 28 years. Besides, it has shown a rise at a 1.98% compound annual growth rate over the last 5 years with a marginal overall growth since the start of observations. It averaged 2 333.73 kilogram from 1990 to 2017 and it hit its all-time high of 14 659 kilogram in 2012 and record low of 27 kilogram in 1990.
