Global wine consumption goes up in 2016

The indicator slightly grew by 0.41 percent in comparison to the prior year, according to updated data announced by Office International du Vin. Wine consumption rose negligibly by 1 000 thousand hectoliters, as it follows the tendency of the previous year when it increased by 0.79 percent. The variable saw a 6.39% raise over the past 22 years. Likewise, the wine consumption is now higher than its average which equals 236 410.45 thousand hectoliters and the indicator highlights a modest overall increase since the start of time series. It hit its all-time high of 250 242 thousand hectoliters in 2008 and record low of 221 632 thousand hectoliters in 1996.
