Import of bitumen and asphalt, asphaltites and asphaltic rocks to Sri Lanka: Drop in 2017

According to numbers published by United Nations Statistical Office, bitumen import fell strongly by 90.78 percent compared to 2016. The indicator sharply decreased from 16 393 kilogram to 1 512.05 kilogram, in comparison with the previous year when it climbed by 195.8%. The overall changes for the prior 28 years hit a diminution of 93.47%. Moreover, it has shown a negative compound annual growth rate of 0.59 percent over the five years with a marginal overall increase since the 1990. It averaged 24 612.61 kilogram from 1990 to 2017 and it reached its all-time high of 379 055 kilogram in 2008 and record low of 97 kilogram in 1994.
