Iron oxides pellets consumption in blast furnaces in United States declines in 2014

According to figures issued by U.S. Geological Survey, in comparison with the previous year iron consumption dropped slightly by 1.83 percent. The variable decreased hardly from 38 200 thousand tonnes to 37 500 thousand tonnes, as it follows the tendency of the prior year when it fell by 5.91 percent. United States saw a decline of 32.07% in iron consumption during the last 14 years. Furthermore, it has had a raise at a 0.01% average annual growth rate over the last 5 years with a modest overall decrease since the start of observations. It averaged 44 014.29 thousand tonnes from 2001 to 2014 and it reached its all-time high of 55 200 thousand tonnes in 2001 and record low of 26 200 thousand tonnes in 2009.
