Sales of chocolates containing alcohol in Italy: Raise in 2016

Chocolate sales barely climbed by 0.22 percent compared with the previous year, updated statistics from European Commission constitute. The indicator grew slightly from 5 439 thousand kilograms in 2015 to 5 451 thousand kilograms prior year, as it follows the tendency of the previous year when it went up by 25.84 percent. Italy saw a decrease of 41.91% in chocolate sales over the past 22 years. Besides, it has had the compound average annual growth rate of 0.01% during the 5 years with a marginal overall drop since the 1995. It averaged 12 366.95 thousand kilograms from 1995 to 2016 and it attained its all-time high of 31 716 thousand kilograms in 2006 and record low of 3 672 thousand kilograms in 2011.
