Export of maize starch from South Africa: Growth in 2017

Maize starch export rose by 6.95 percent in 2017, refreshed statistics from United Nations Statistical Office indicate. The variable increased from 24 790 670 kilogram in 2016 to 26 513 880 kilogram prior year, compared to the previous year when it declined by 1.34%. South Africa saw a drop of 34.85% in maize starch export during the last 18 years. Furthermore, the maize starch export is now smaller than its average which equals 29 797 676 kilogram and the indicator demonstrates a slight overall decline since the start of observations. It hit its all-time high of 56 180 960 kilogram in 2002 and record low of 12 407 712 kilogram in 2006.
