Carbon steel production in United States: Rise in 2014

According to data published by U.S. Geological Survey, in 2014 iron production slightly rose by 0.87%. The variable negligibly went up from 80 700 thousand tonnes to 81 400 thousand tonnes, in comparison with the previous year when it decreased by 1.47 percent. United States saw a fall of 7.5% in iron production during the last 17 years. Moreover, it has had the average annual growth rate of 0.02 percent over the last 5 years with a marginal overall decrease since the start of time series. It averaged 83 070.59 thousand tonnes from 1998 to 2014 and it attained its all-time high of 92 500 thousand tonnes in 2000 and record low of 55 200 thousand tonnes in 2009.
