Consumption of purchased aluminum scrap in United States: Drop in 2015

According to revised figures published by U.S. Geological Survey, aluminum consumption decreased by 5.14 percent compared to the prior year. The indicator dropped by 200 000 metric ton, contrarily to the prior year when it rose by 2.1 percent. United States saw a growth of 9.5% in aluminum consumption during the last 14 years. Likewise, it has had a 0.01 percent compound average annual growth rate during the 5 years with a marginal overall increase since the 2002. It averaged 3 597 142.86 metric ton from 2002 to 2015 and it reached its all-time high of 4 330 000 metric ton in 2007 and record low of 3 040 000 metric ton in 2009.
