Export of spectacles, goggles except sunglasses from South Africa goes down in 2017

According to adjusted statistics announced by United Nations Statistical Office, eyewear export diminished greatly by 54.38% in 2017. The variable sharply went down from 108 589 kilogram to 49 535.21 kilogram, in contrast to the previous year when it grew by 80.34%. South Africa saw a rise of 454.95% in eyewear export during the last 18 years. Though, it has shown a decline at a 0.01% compound average annual growth rate over the 5 years with a negligible overall growth since the 2000. It averaged 40 967.29 kilogram from 2000 to 2017 and it attained its all-time high of 108 589 kilogram in 2016 and record low of 7 784 kilogram in 2001.
