Electric furnace, 1 foot and under consumption of purchased and home scrap in United States drops in 2014

U.S. Geological Survey reported that the variable greatly diminished by 98.67% compared with the prior year. Iron and steel consumption dropped strongly by 14 505 thousand tonnes, in contrast to the previous year when it rose by 7 516.58%. United States saw a drop of 35% in iron and steel consumption during the last 13 years. Moreover, it has had a negative compound average annual growth rate of 0.04 percent during the 5 years with a slight overall rise since the start of time series. It averaged 1 312.24 thousand tonnes from 2002 to 2014 and it attained its all-time high of 14 700 thousand tonnes in 2013 and record low of 132 thousand tonnes in 2007.
