Main Debit Card Indicators

  • Direct Debit Transaction

Value (million or billion US Dollars or any other national currency) or volume (number of transactions) of direct debit transactions, i.e. preauthorised debits, possibly recurrent, of the payer' account by the payee. Both one-off and recurrent direct debits are included. In the case of recurrent direct debits, each individual payment is counted as one transaction. Payments are counted on the payee' side. Cash payments out of the account using a bank form are not included. Based on: Bank for International Settlements.

  • Debit Card Transaction

Value (million or billion US Dollars or any other national currency) or volume (number of transactions) of payment transactions performed with debit cards, i.e. cards which enable the holder to have purchases directly charged to funds on his/her account at a bank (may sometimes be combined with another function, such as that of a cash card or cheque guarantee card). Based on: Bank for International Settlements.

  • Number Of Debit Card

Number of debit cards in circulation, not the number of accounts to which the cards are linked. Debit cards are understood as cards which enable the holder to have purchases directly charged to funds on his/her account at a bank (may sometimes be combined with another function, such as that of a cash card or cheque guarantee card). Based on: Bank for International Settlements.
