According to numbers presented by European Commission, in 2016 the indicator sharply increased by 34.79 percent. The variable went up strongly by 7 408.88 thousand kilograms, as it follows the tendency of the prior year when it rose by 1.79%. Slovakia saw a growth of 36.24% in plastics sales during the last 19 years. However, it has had a negative average annual growth rate of 0.01% over the 5 years with a modest overall rise since the start of observations. It averaged 22 726.04 thousand kilograms from 1998 to 2016 and it reached its all-time high of 35 712.53 thousand kilograms in 2003 and record low of 16 932.96 thousand kilograms in 2002.
