Import of live pure-bred breeding horses to South Africa goes down in 2016

According to figures released by United Nations Statistical Office, horses import dropped sharply by 94.95% in comparison with the previous year. The variable diminished greatly from 292 258 in 2015 to 14 764 prior year, versus the previous year when it rose by 86 366.86%. South Africa saw a raise of 19 585.33% in horses import during the last 17 years. Besides, it has attained the average annual growth rate of 2.52% during the five years with a negligible overall increase since the start of time series. It averaged 18 771.59 from 2000 to 2016 and it hit its all-time high of 292 258 in 2015 and record low of 75 in 2000.
