Export of cane beet sugar from Belgium drops in 2017

According to data published by United Nations Statistical Office, beet sugar export sharply declined by 51.1 percent in 2017. The indicator went down strongly from 29 931 012 kilogram to 14 635 307 kilogram, versus the previous year when it increased by 72.79%. Belgium saw a growth of 238.37% in beet sugar export during the last 19 years. Though, it has shown a diminution at a 0.03 percent compound annual growth rate during the 5 years with a negligible overall increase since the 1999. It averaged 14 003 161.21 kilogram from 1999 to 2017 and it hit its all-time high of 30 531 544 kilogram in 2009 and record low of 4 325 181 kilogram in 1999.
