Import of fresh or chilled shrimps and prawns to Saint Lucia grows in 2016

According to revised statistics released by United Nations Statistical Office, shrimps import went up by 15.13 percent in comparison with the previous year. Shrimps import climbed from 2 823 US Dollar to 3 250 US Dollar, versus the prior year when it fell by 95.35%. The overall changes for the previous 17 years reached a diminution of 32.91%. Likewise, it has attained a negative average annual growth rate of 0.28 percent over the last 5 years with a marginal overall decline since the 2000. It averaged 15 803 US Dollar from 2000 to 2016 and it hit its all-time high of 85 268 US Dollar in 2001 and record low of 20 US Dollar in 2007.
