Import of sacks and bags of jute or of other textile bast fibres to Malaysia: Increase in 2017

According to numbers released by United Nations Statistical Office, sacks import increased by 6.1% in 2017. Sacks import climbed from 569 032 kilogram in 2016 to 603 723.63 kilogram previous year, compared to the prior year when it fell by 69.02%. Malaysia saw a decline of 84.32% in sacks import during the last 29 years. Likewise, it has attained a negative average annual growth rate of 0.08 percent over the last five years with a modest overall decrease since the start of time series. It averaged 1 967 503.88 kilogram from 1989 to 2017 and it attained its all-time high of 6 530 318 kilogram in 1994 and record low of 58 373 kilogram in 2008.
