Import of horse, ass, mule, hinny meat to Portugal decreases in 2017

Horse meat import decreased sharply by 62.36 percent compared with the prior year, adjusted statistics from United Nations Statistical Office indicate. The indicator diminished greatly from 15 910 US Dollar to 5 989.02 US Dollar, in comparison to the previous year when it went up by 12.91%. Portugal saw a raise of 808.8% in horse meat import over the past 26 years. However, it has had a negative compound average annual growth rate of 0.1 percent over the five years with a modest overall diminution since the start of observations. It averaged 100 763.42 US Dollar from 1992 to 2017 and it reached its all-time high of 440 320 US Dollar in 2007 and record low of 180 US Dollar in 1996.
