Pig iron consumed by manufacturers of steel castings in United States: Rise in 2014

Compared with the same time an year ago iron consumption grew by 26.98%, refreshed statistics from U.S. Geological Survey reveal. The indicator increased by 17 thousand tonnes, as it follows the tendency of the prior year when it rose by 600 percent. United States saw a rise of 471.43% in iron consumption over the past 17 years. Besides, it has attained the average annual growth rate of 0.52% over the last 5 years with a sharp overall growth since the start of time series. It averaged 29 thousand tonnes from 1998 to 2014 and it attained its all-time high of 101 thousand tonnes in 2004 and record low of 9 thousand tonnes in 2012.
