Chinese demand for millet is predicted to fall by 3% year on year CAGR, reaching 597,590 metric tons by 2026. This is a decrease from the 713,000 metric tons of consumption in 2021. Since 2017, China's consumption has dropped by 1.7%. Ethiopia was the top consumer in 2021 with 713,000 metric tons while Niger, Nigeria, and Mali followed in second, third, and fourth place respectively. Meanwhile, supplies of millet from China are expected to increase by 1% year on year between 2021 and 2026, reaching 2,519,000 metric tons. Since 1966, Chinese production has grown by 11.3%. Nigeria led in production for 2021 with 2,376,700 metric tons and China, Nigeria, and Mali occupied the second, third, and fourth spots.
