Global goat production is set to reach 119 million heads by 2026. This is a 1.1% annual growth rate since 2021, when production was at 112 million heads. This growth rate has been consistent since 1966, when it was 1.7% annually. India is the world's leading goat producer, with 15 million heads in 2021. China, Nigeria and Pakistan ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Myanmar's production increased 10% year on year, while New Caledonia's decreased by 39%.
