In 2021, China was the largest consumer with 64,876 Thousand Metric Tons, followed by the United States, Spain and Brazil respectively. Aland Islands and Netherlands recorded the largest year on year growth, gaining 8.9% and 7.1% respectively. Whereas, Belize was the biggest loser, with a fall of 8.2% year on year. Global pig production is forecast to reach 207 million heads by 2026, down 0.7% annually on average over the past five years. China is the biggest producer with 83 million heads, followed by the U.S. Virgin Islands, Brazil and Spain. Malawi has seen the biggest growth at 18.7% annually, while Tajikistan has seen the biggest drop at 24.9%. Global pork consumption is expected to reach 120 million metric tons by 2026, up 0.4% annually since 2017. China is the top consumer with 65 million metric tons, followed by the U.S., Spain and Brazil. The Aland Islands and Netherlands recorded the highest growth at 8.9% and 7.1%, respectively. Belize saw the biggest drop at 8.2%.
