Summary
This report forecasts US demand and production of aggregate alkalies and chlorine in short tons to 2017. Total demand and production are segmented by product in terms of chlorine, soda ash (sodium carbonate), caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), and caustic potash (potassium hydroxide).
To illustrate historical trends, total demand and production are provided in annual series from 2002 to 2012; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2007 and 2012. An Industry Overview section defines products, discusses market drivers and constraints, identifies substitute products when applicable, and provides pertinent background on trade, chlor-alkali technology, and environmental and regulatory factors.
An Industry Forecasts section assesses the impact of key drivers and constraints on each product segment over the forecast period.
Further analysis includes an Industry Structure section, which surveys the supply base and profiles the leading suppliers competing to serve US demand. A one-page, introductory Highlights section summarizes key findings from this 26-page report, and a Resources section lists contributing sources as well as resources available for further research.
