The Brazilian and Mexican mobile device management (MDM) market reached $45.8 million in revenue in 2015. The Latin American market is in a nascent phase compared to other regions such as North America and Europe, presenting opportunities for new entrants, investments, mergers and acquisitions (M&As), and for existing integrators to increase their offers.

Although the MDM market is nascent, it already shows some signs of commoditization, with companies fighting based on pricing, resulting in price erosion. -With the increasing penetration of smartphones and tablets in the Brazilian and Mexican markets, the market is witnessing an increasing trend in the consumerization of IT, where employees receive corporate devices, such as tablets and smartphones, to connect to their corporate network.
- Another relevant trend in mobility refers to BYOD. Many companies still do not know how to deal with this trend and some prohibit the use of personal devices to access corporate systems. Although this posture can avoid extra risks, it may affect employees’ satisfaction and productivity. Companies tend to use MDM solutions when they realize that their information is valuable and must be protected. For example, employees have their customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource management (ERP) solutions on their mobile devices.
- Brazil is observing a difficult macroeconomic climate, driving companies to look for improvements in productivity. Mobility has been one of the keys for enhanced productivity. - Telecommunication companies play a major role in this market as they sell corporate MDM solutions along with the smartphones that are sold or rented to enterprises. Telecom companies offer IT and value-added services (VAS) to increase revenues, partially compensating for the deceleration in voice services revenue.
- Mobile broadband is expected to lead telecommunication companies’ revenue growth as expanding 3G coverage, the launch of LTE networks, and the continuous growth of smartphone sales are expected to raise
the average revenue per line (ARPL) for data services as users adopt higher value services. The investments in mobile broadband drive growth of mobile device management services, as Internet is crucial for this market.
