In addition to these, the Japanese defense budget also includes expenditure on the Special Action Committee on Okinawa (SACO) and US force realignment. During the historic period, the total defense budget, including funding for SACO and US force realignment, witnessed a CAGR of -8.36% to value US$45.4 billion in 2017, compared to US$49 billion in 2013.

Japanese homeland security budget represents the budget of the National Police Agency of Japan. It stood at US$2.5 billion in 2013 and showed an increasing trend to value US$2.8 billion in 2017, reflecting a CAGR of 3.39% during the historic period. However, the homeland security budget is projected to increase at a CAGR of 2.41% over the forecast period to value US$3.2 billion in 2022.

Japanese defense budget is expected to grow at a CAGR of 2.50% during the forecast period to value US$51.1 billion by 2022.
