The Personal Waxing and Nail Salons industry exhibits a low level of market share concentration as most operators cater to a small, local market. Nevertheless, the largest players include European Wax Center, Waxing the City, Regal Nails, Salon and Spa LLC and Angel Tips, and each account for a nominal share of industry revenue. While some operators sell merchandise, the primary services offered by salons are manicures, pedicures waxing services.

Local companies outnumber franchises

• Most industry operators are independently owned locations and nonemployers. These companies typically cater to small, local markets in high-traffic areas, thus there are no major players in this industry. However, there are some franchise companies that operate multiple establishments. Barriers to entry in this industry are low due to the high demand for high-value treatments and services. The start-up costs new businesses may incur include a rental space, tables and chairs for the services offered, drying and sterilization equipment, as well as other inventory purchase costs, such as nail polish and wax.
