However, growth in the Eastern European wine sector would be led by fortified wine, with a CAGR of 6.3% to 2022, while sparkling wine is projected to spearhead growth in the sector in terms of volume with a CAGR of 2.4% during the same period.

Based on the relative performance of countries on multiple metrics, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia are shortlisted as high potential countries, primarily due to the large wine sector size, projected high value growth rates, and projected rising per capita value growth levels.Of all the high potential countries, Romania is the largest market for wine.

Polish wine sector is forecast to grow at the fastest pace (CAGR 11.1%) in value terms during 2017-2022.
