This IDC Perspective assesses Automation Anywhere task mining software, Process Discovery. AAI Process Discovery was one of the early task mining offerings when it was privately held by FortressIQ. It evolved to provide strong support for data privacy and utilize machine learning algorithms and policies to speed up and simplify task mining. Its recent release of interactive simulation promises to substantially improve the speed and quality of discovery. "AAI has one of the strongest offerings for the most critical features of task mining," according to Maureen Fleming, program vice president in IDC's AI and Automation Research Practice. "As the market evolves, competitors have moved to offer features that shift from documenting how work is performed to designing improvements that include automation and augmentation. AAI's road map will close that gap in 2023 and underscore the competitive nature of task mining."
