This IDC study discusses worldwide smart speaker market shares for 2022."The smart speaker market has cooled in most parts of the world," says Adam Wright, research manager for IDC's Smart Home and Office Devices research program. "Unit shipments are declining partly because of a high installed base coupled with long replacement cycles but also because of weak demand for upgrades and multiple speakers in the home stemming from issues of underutilization. Moreover, high inflation, declining disposable incomes, and record-high credit card debt -- particularly in North America -- are further squeezing consumers' wallets and putting downward pressure on demand for smart home devices such as smart speakers."
