Bulgarian demand for crude oil reached 342,000 metric tons in December 2021, a jump of 340,000 metric tons since November 2021. This is expected to be a 5.5 percent decrease compared to the previous year. Since January 2008, the demand has decreased by 10.1 percent each year. Meanwhile, Bulgaria's crude oil production is anticipated to reach 16.2 million tonnes of oil equivalent by 2026, down 3.3 percent on average each year since 2021. Since 1976, the supply has dropped by 3.6 percent annually. In 2021, the country ranked 80th in the world, with Tajikistan overtaking it at 19.4 million tonnes of oil equivalent. Saudi Arabia, the United States and Iraq came in second, third and fourth in the rankings, respectively.
