According to a recent report, the number of hospital beds in the Netherlands is projected to decrease by 1.9% annually until 2026. This would mean a total of 45,890 hospital beds in the Netherlands by 2026. This is a continuation of a downward trend since 1970, when the number of hospital beds in the Netherlands was 2.4% lower than the year prior. In 2021, the Netherlands ranked 22nd in the world in terms of hospital beds, behind Belgium's 51,360 beds. Japan, Russia and the United States followed with the second, third and fourth most beds, respectively.
