In 2021, the country imported 13,690 metric tons, making it the 93rd largest importer in the world. The leading countries in the ranking were Panama, Brazil, Spain, and Thailand. Meanwhile, exports of fertilizer from Costa Rica are expected to rise 1.7% annually. In 2021, the country exported 11,660 metric tons, putting it in 48th place. Norway, Belgium, and Finland were the top three countries in the ranking. Since 2007, fertilizer imports and exports in Costa Rica have grown 8.9% and 8.8%, respectively.
