In 2021, New Zealand was the 77th largest exporter of fertilizer, with Ecuador coming in at number one with 558.6 metric tons. Norway, Belgium and Finland came in at numbers two, three and four respectively. New Zealand's fertilizer imports, meanwhile, are expected to increase at an average rate of 0.8% year on year over the next five years, reaching 45,410 metric tons by 2026. This follows a 4.7% year on year increase since 2007. In 2021, New Zealand was the 60th largest importer of fertilizer, with Croatia coming in at number one with 43,150 metric tons. Brazil, Spain and Thailand came in at numbers two, three and four respectively.
