Russia is set to become a major fertilizer producer over the next five years. Production is projected to reach nearly 10 million metric tons by 2026, up 6 percent from 2014. India, Vietnam, and Indonesia are the other top producers. Russia's fertilizer imports are expected to increase steadily, growing 1.6 percent year-on-year on average. The country was ranked 85th in 2021 with imports totaling around 17,700 metric tons. Syria, Brazil, Spain, and Thailand are the other top importers. Russia's fertilizer exports are set to reach 6.5 million metric tons by 2026, up 5.4 percent from 2007. Norway, Belgium, and Finland are the other top exporters.
