In 2021, Brazil overtook Malaysia, with 159,180 metric tons of fertilizer exports. Norway, Belgium and Finland followed in the rankings. Imports of fertilizer into Malaysia are forecast to fall to 236,390 metric tons by 2026, a 1.7% year on year decrease. Since 2007, demand for fertilizer in Malaysia has decreased by 2% annually. In 2021, Sweden topped the rankings, with 261,670 metric tons imported. Brazil, Spain and Thailand followed in the rankings. Malaysia's fertilizer production stood at 25,000 metric tons in 2019, the same as 2018. In 2019, Cuba led the rankings with 25,000 metric tons produced. India, Vietnam and Indonesia followed.
