Montenegro's fertilizer import is expected to decrease slightly in the coming years, according to recent data. In 2021, the country imported 3,180 metric tons, down 0.7% from the previous year. Since 2011, Montenegrin demand has dropped by an average of 4% annually. The Democratic Republic of the Congo overtook it, taking the number 124 spot with 3,320 metric tons. Brazil, Spain and Thailand were respectively ranked at numbers two, three, and four. Montenegro's fertilizer exports totalled 8 metric tons in 2016, up from 3.68 metric tons the previous year.
