Cattle production in Luxembourg is expected to remain virtually flat in the next five years. According to data from the International Organization of Cattle Producers, the country's herd will reach 171,990 heads in 2026, a decrease of 0.2% compared to 2021. Since 2005, the country has seen a steady decline, with average year-on-year decreases of 0.9%. In 2021, Luxembourg was the 133rd largest cattle producer in the world, with 173,530 heads, just behind the Republic of the Congo. India, the United States and China were the top three producers, in that order.
