Argentina is set to become one of the world's biggest butter consumers within the next five years. According to a study released this week, Argentinian butter consumption is projected to reach 18.4 thousand metric tons by 2026, down 4.4% from 24 thousand metric tons in 2021. Since 2017, the country's demand has decreased by 3.9% year on year. In 2021, Argentina ranked 38th, with Romania coming in ahead at 24 thousand metric tons. Germany, France and Russia ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Argentina's butter production is also projected to drop 8.6% year on year from 21.9 thousand metric tons in 2021 to 13 thousand metric tons in 2026. Since 1966, the country's supply has decreased by 8.6% year on year. In 2021, Argentina was number 36, with Chile coming in ahead with 21.9 thousand metric tons. New Zealand, Germany and France were respectively ranked second, third and fourth.
