Mauritania's butter consumption is expected to drop by 7.3% in the next five years, from 1,000 metric tons in 2021 to 630 metric tons by 2026. This follows a period of stable demand since 2017, when the country ranked 100th in a worldwide comparison. Cambodia was ahead at 1,000 metric tons, while Germany, France and Russia took 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, respectively. Mauritanian butter production is expected to rise by 1.2% to 1,180 metric tons in 2026 from 1,100 metric tons in 2021. Since 1966, supply has increased by 1.8% year-on-year. Mauritania was 85th in 2021, behind Bangladesh at 1,100 metric tons. New Zealand, Germany and France followed in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, respectively.
