Consumption of cottonseed oil in Malawi is expected to decline to 6.5 thousand metric tons in 2026, down 1.7% on average year-on-year from 7 thousand metric tons in 2021. This follows a period of stable demand since 2017. Malawi currently ranks 24th in global consumption, with Zambia overtaking it in 2021 at 7 thousand metric tons. China, Brazil and Uzbekistan occupy the top three positions respectively.
