Costa Rican palm oil consumption is forecast to reach nearly 33,000 metric tons by 2026, according to a new report. This is a 0.4% increase on 2021 levels, when the country consumed 32,000 metric tons of palm oil. Since 2017, demand has grown at a rate of 1.1% a year. In 2021, Costa Rica ranked 51st in the world for palm oil consumption, with Oman coming in at number 50. India, Indonesia and Nigeria were the top three countries in this ranking. Costa Rican palm oil production was estimated at around 264,040 metric tons in 2021. This is expected to rise to 284,570 metric tons by 2026, growing at a rate of 1.3% a year. Since 1966, supply has increased by 1.1% a year. In 2021, Costa Rica ranked 14th in the world for palm oil production, with Cameroon coming in at number 13. Malaysia, Thailand and Colombia were the top three countries in this ranking.
