Panama is set to increase its production of palm oil by 2.7% year on year on average. This will bring the country's total production to 24,040 metric tons by 2026. The increase in production is attributed to a 3.4% year on year rise since 2012. In 2021, Panama came in at number 30 in the global ranking for palm oil production, with the Democratic Republic of the Congo overtaking at 20,520 metric tons. Malaysia, Thailand, and Colombia came in numbers 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Consumption of palm oil in Panama was 1,000 metric tons in 2018, a slight increase from the previous year. In 2018, the country came in at 82nd in the global ranking, with the Solomon Islands overtaking at 1,000 metric tons. India, Indonesia, and Nigeria came in numbers 2, 3, and 4, respectively.
